About this model:
The Australian arm of the Ford Motor Company has one of the worlds most enviable reputations for producing the unique ‘Australian’ brand of motor vehicle. Many punters would argue that the GTHO’s were the defining point of the Australian produced muscle car, but there are others who believe that the makings of Ford Australia becoming a truly unique local brand was the inception of the Ford XA Falcon.

Up until the 1970’s, Ford was still run with very close ties to Ford America, with many of the cars being designed with heavy American influences. The XA Falcon bucked this trend because it was a fully Australian designed model. This new car was introduced to the Australian public in 1972, and the GT Hardtop was quite a powerful edition. Despite this, in 1973 Ford decided to give the XA some extra street cred and added a few embellishments to the model to create a showcar for Melbourne Motor Show. The result was the XA Falcon Superbird.

This silver beast was easily identifiable due to the giant orange bird graphic which took up the majority of the cars sides. The interior was given a splash of colour also with red and grey being the colours of the hour but the majority of the rest of the car remained in its usual GT running gear. Motoring enthusiasts certainly stood up and took notice of this car and due to the fanfare, Ford decided to produce a limited run of the model.

Some punters argue that the production version released by Ford was a step down from the original showcar, while others argue that it was far better refined, and much nicer on the eye. In any case, the giant bird graphic which adorned the sides of the showcar was removed, replaced with a much smaller, and more subtle version on the back rear quarters of the car. This coupled with a slightly smaller V8 engine than what was advertised to be in the showcar concept was the source of many discussions. However, these changes didn’t seem to affect anyone from opening their wallets though, with Ford selling a reputed 700 units of the production model.

The Superbird signalled a real coming of age for the Australian motor industry, with numerous manufacturers taking the Superbirds lead with respects to looks and performance. This model will feature the unique Superbird styling of the production version, including the bird graphic on the rear quarters and revised twelve slot rims with Walnut accents. This historic model, in all its beauty will be one for Ford fans and muscle car enthusiasts alike.

1974 HOLDEN LH TORANA SLR/5000 L34 - GLACIER WHITE

The above model is now available for preorder.

It is model number A73477 and will be priced at $185.
This model is due for release in the 2nd quarter 2012.

If you would like to preorder one Email Us

Please include your name and phone number.

About this model;
The infamous “Supercar Scare” of 1972 had a profound effect on Australian car manufacturers, with the big three, Holden, Ford and Chrysler all cancelling various “Supercar” projects due to political pressure and public backlash. The theory behind the scare was fairly straight forward; politicians were becoming increasingly worried about fast, high performance race cars being made available to every day road users. These fast cars were becoming more readily available to the public due to the manufacturers having to produce limited numbers of their high performance models as a road car version so they would be eligible to race - with Bathurst being the main crown they were chasing.

These events in 1972 provide an interesting backdrop to Holden’s release of their LH Torana SLR 5000 “L34” option in 1974. It is interesting because, in 1972, Holden were the first manufacturer to bow to public pressure and cancel its V8 Torana program, and only 2 years later they were delivering a brute of a racing option SLR 5000 in the form of the L34. Holden knew that they couldn’t afford another public stir with this model and they only had to release a very limited number of the L34 options in order to make the model eligible for racing.

In August of 1974, Holden announced the L34 to its dealer network. Normally a new or upgraded model such as this would bring a raft of advertising and announcements from the manufacturer, but the L34 was released very quietly and in rather sneaky circumstances. According to many sources, Holden were so careful as to not alert the public / government of this cars upgrades that many of the L34’s in showrooms weren’t fully complete with all their running gear, and some even suggest that Holden instructed its dealer network that buyers needed to apply to purchase the car, and it would only be sold to them if they were in possession of a CAMS competition license. They only wanted very skilled and responsible drivers to be cruising the streets in this particular car.

With a 5.0 litre 308ci engine developed by Repco Engine developments and many other mechanical upgrades the L34 was certainly a superior model to the standard SLR 5000 and was just over $2000 more expensive. The upgrades however, wouldn’t turn the L34 into a ridiculously fast street car though, with much of the upgrades focussing on durability with running at Bathurst purely in mind. This theory was backed up by the cars performance figures; 240bhp (179kW) @ 4800rpm and 315 ft-lbs (407Nm) of torque @3000rpm which were identical to the standard SLR 5000’s figures. All of the base ingredients were there for racing success and to further ensure the L34’s racing pedigree, Holden devised a High Output non factory option that would certainly give the performance figures a real kick. For an extra $1500, the High Output option was effectively a bolt on racing kit filled with parts for competitors to turn their car into a true racing machine.

This is a beautifully produced model with high quality finishing and signature L34 Flares and round head lights. This is a model that no Holden fan will want to miss.

1996 Bathurst Winner Lowndes/Murphy VR Commodore

The terrible weather was to continue all day. Craig Lowndes and Greg Murphy were simply awesome, leading for 129 of the 161 laps, setting the fastest lap of the race at 2m 13.1636s and winning with almost a 20 second lead ahead of two strong Falcons. At the time Craig Lowndes aged 22 was the youngest driver ever to win the race, a sign of a great future.

The Bathurst race saw Colin Bond (who had been with the team since 1969) partnered with a South Australian Open-wheeler driver John Walker. Bond secured pole position from Allan Moffat, with Brock starting third. Throughout the race the HDT L34 Toarana had numerous issues. From a 3 minute stint in the pits to change tyres, a hot running engine refusing to start, to a cracked brake disc. The later caused Bond to spin while turning into The Cutting before arriving at Hell Corner. Colin Bond and John Walker had a difficult race day and were initially excluded from the final race results for an alleged inlet manifold modification. After appeal they were later reinstated to 3rd place outright.

Preorders are called for the above model in 1:18 scale.

It is model number 18450 and will be priced at $230.

This model is due for a release of 2500 in the 3rd quarter of 2012.

The story:
The HDT pit was telling Doug Chivas, then in the lead, to stretch his fuel as far as possible but at the top of the mountain the car ran out of fuel.

Chivas was able to tiptoe the dead car down the mountain and with sight of the pits tried to clutch start the car, but 100m from his pit he was forced to push. With metres left the officials allowed the pit crew to push the car.

Peter Brock relieved the exhausted Chivas. Brock had dramas also with tyres and track debris, he too had to limp to the pits.
After replacing both tyres Brock rejoined the race, eventually finishing the race in second position, a worthy result when almost half the field failed to finish on what proved to be a testing race.

Earlier this year Biante announced their 1:18 Scale Holden L34 Torana driven by Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss in the 1976 Hardie Ferodo Bathurst 1000. This model was cancelled recently due to the bankruptcy of our major manufacturer and the $300.00 price tag. We are very pleased to announce that we will be producing this model with Autoart at the revised price point of $195.00. This model will no longer be coming with a display case, however it will still come with a signed certificate of authenticity by both Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss respectively. We believe this new price point will make collectors who previously had this model on pre-order very pleased, saving over $100. Due to the new pricing structure we have cancelled all existing pre-orders for this item and are calling for new orders.
On paper, it was a brilliant public relations exercise. Take two former Formula 1 stars, put them together in a Torana for the biggest race of the year at Bathurst and sit back and watch the fans and media lap it up. That was the case in 1976 as three-time Formula 1 World Champion Jack Brabham, and perhaps the greatest driver never to win the World Championship, Stirling Moss, teamed up together for the Hardie Ferodo 1000. Between them they had a total of 192 Formula 1 Grands Prix starts, 30 F1 GP wins, 29 pole positions and over 400 World Championship points, but neither had raced at Bathurst in a touring car.
It would be Moss’ first race since the terrible accident at Goodwood in 1962 that nearly killed him and coincided with his insurance company terminating its ban on him racing. Having turned 47 a month before the race the big question was whether he and Brabham could match the touring car regulars who were so well versed at competing on slick tyres in big heavy cars on the famous Mount Panorama circuit ever year. Backing for the venture came from Blues Union, Esmonds Motors and Sydney radio station 2SM but it almost all came unstuck very early in the weekend in practice as Brabham survived a hairy ride down the escape road at the end of Conrod Straight due to total brake failure. He was able to manhandle the out-of-control L34 Torana, avoiding the back of the similar Craven Mild car of Allan Grice and major damage to stop the car at the end of the wild ride. His practice time of 2m30s neat put the duo 10th on the grid as Allan Moffat’s XB GT Falcon swooped to pole position on 2m25.0s. When the Australian flag dropped to start the 163-lap marathon, there was instant disaster for Brabham. ‘Black Jack’ was left hurriedly working away at his gear lever, desperate to get the car moving again as the rest of the field streamed away towards Hell’s Corner. With a gearbox that had selected two gears at once, he was a sitting duck and had barely moved an inch when the Triumph Dolomite of John Dellaca which had started 36th on the grid, had nowhere to go and rammed into the back of the stationary Holden.
It was a complete and total disaster, with the damage to the two cars enough for them both to be dragged to the back of the pits by the ARDC recovery crews so repairs could be affected. After so much pre-race hype and build-up, there would be huge efforts go into repairing the Brabham/Moss car to a level to at least get it onto the track and into the race for the fans to see. In fact, race organisers the ARDC (Australian Racing Drivers Club) waived the rules to allow the car to rejoin the race so the fans could see the two legends at work, however its run was to be short-lived as engine failure meant it only lasted another 37 laps. To top it off, Moss didn’t endear himself to the local racers by driving a full lap back to the pits with smoke and oil pouring from the bowels of the Torana! It may not have been a memorable result, but the 1976 start line incident and ill-fated assault by Brabham and Moss remains one of the most well-known stories in Bathurst 1000 history.

There is a new addition to the Biante Street Machine range that we are announcing this month, a blown Ford XA Falcon Coupe in the sensational, eye catching Candy Blue. This model is simply amazing, and follows a similar approach to our previously released blown XB Falcon in Candy Apple Red.
The modifications for this model are significant. Out is the regular stock Ford V8, replaced by a 351 Cleveland topped with a 6:71 supercharger and twin Dominator Carbs on the twin hump induction scoop lavished in chrome.
It rides on Drag ET radials on the back while the fronts are ET Front runners. Inside, the blue carpet highlights the white bucket seats with racing harnesses, and four point roll cage. Move to the boot, and again, the blue carpet brilliantly highlights the 5 litre fuel surge tank.

Our preorder list for this model is now open and will close on the 24th of January 2012

Model number is A72740 and it will be priced at $185 and available in the 1st quarter of 2012.

If you would like to preorder one Email Us

Please include your name and phone number.

1983 Bathurst Mazda RX-7 - #43 Moffat/Katayama

Early in 1972 Ford released the XA GT Falcon in sedan and hardtop versions.

It was the first Falcon to be totally designed by Australians, as production of the Falcon in the USA had ceased some 18 months earlier.

The XA was the biggest Falcon yet, with the boldest styling, designed for wider appeal with its less aggressive look and creature comforts. Ford built 891 hardtops between July 1972 and September 1973, including the construction of 129 RPO83 coupes. The GT Specials - that's their official title - were Regular Production Option 83 on Fords options list for Falcon GTs.

1983 Bathurst Holden VH Commodore Brock/Perkins

The above model in 1:18 scale has just arrived.

It is model number 18400 and priced at $230.

We have very few available so if you are after one get it now, here.

Peter Brock started the 1983 Bathurst race in pole position in the HDT #05 Commodore and it did not take long in the race before a commanding lead had been achieved.

Peter’s dominance on the race ended in a puff of smoke on lap 8 of the race at the end of Con-Rod Straight and the car limped its way slowly back to the pits where it was determined that a bent valve in the engine had ended #05’s race.
But it wasn’t to be the end of Peter Brock’s day…he had a plan which would result in great controversy.

On lap 20, Harvey headed for the pits in the HDT #25 car to hand over to his co-driver Phil Brock. However, due to a loop hole in the rules relating to ‘cross-entering’ Peter Brock re-entered the race in the HDT #25 car in 5th place.
In a race that continued to take its toll on many cars, Peter Brock steadily gained ground on the leaders until he re-gained the lead on lap 48. By lap 50, Brock was 90 seconds in front and was never challenged again and went on to claim his seventh Bathurst win.

The official result was a win to Peter Brock, Perkins & Harvey. Phil Brock did not register a start in the race.
